The airport maintains two paved, lighted runways and one ultra-light turf runway, along with an aerobatic box and skydive drop zone. The north/south paved runway 1/19 is 4,000 feet long and 100 feet wide with 4-light PAPI on runway 19. The east/west paved runway 10/28 is 3000 long by 75 feet wide with a 2-light PAPI and GPS RNAV approach on runway 10.

The airport is within a few minutes flight time of four other active, high-traffic airports (see below) and numerous instrument approaches. This makes Homestead General an ideal base for instrument approach training operations.

All of these airports are equally great for the student pilot as well, offering excellent practice for flying in terminal areas and learning runway traffic patterns. Granted, you can study an airport diagram until you’re blue in the face.
